      • International Symposium on Urban Climate and Environment (ISUCE)

Symposium Theme: Bridging Theory and Practice

        5-6 June 2026

The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology

        Hong Kong, China

      • Global cities are increasingly confronting challenges associated with climate change and environmental sustainability. Rising climate hazards such as urban heat islands, extreme heatwaves, and intense precipitation events pose significant threats to public health and the resilience of urban infrastructure. Addressing these issues requires a comprehensive understanding and innovative strategies for mitigation and adaptation to ensure sustainable urban development.

Aiming to advance global research and collaboration in urban climate and environmental sustainability, and bring together international experts to share insights and experiences for climate-resilient cities under diverse contexts, the International Symposium on Urban Climate and Environment will be hosted in person at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology from June 5-6, 2026.

The event will focus on four critical themes:

        1. Innovative Observation Methods and Equipment

(Multi-source data fusion, high-resolution remote sensing, artificial intelligence, and new technologies such as UAVs)

        2. Advances in Urban Climate Modeling

(Urban land surface parameterization, Large Eddy Simulation applications, new forecasting paradigms, integrating AI with physics-based models)

        3. Forecasting and Early Warning Systems for Urban Weather Hazards

(Early detection and rapid response methods for extreme urban weather events, decision support tool for urban emergency management)

        4. Climate-Resilient Urban Planning and Engineering Solutions

(Nature-based solutions, action framework for risk governance, and smart engineering for sustainable development of future cities)
